What is the TuneDig Album Calendar?

As the new year begins, we made something for you that we think you’re gonna dig. We’ve curated an entire year’s worth of albums to spin, one for every single day.

If you’ve listened to TuneDig, you already know these 366 picks span history, genres, and cultures. Each day presents an album that’s fundamentally different than the one that came before it, and the one that comes after.

We’re going to listen to every day’s record for the entire year, and we invite you to listen along with us in your own way. You’ll expand and deepen your appreciation for music beyond your current favorites, without a doubt. Hopefully, you’ll also grow your appreciation for the album format in an age of algorithmic playlists and AI DJs.

So, why would we do this when streaming services will gladly—and accurately—make playlists and radio stations tailored specifically to each of us?

In the podcast, we’ve always encouraged you to appreciate music through curiosity as a practice. Curiosity opens your mind to sounds and people and ideas you wouldn’t otherwise be exposed to. Practice makes you better at being curious, and unlocks a deeper sense of discovery in music.

With a curated album every day to spin, your practice of curiosity becomes a discipline. Instead of bouncing off a record that doesn’t hit, your aim is to shift the context of how you’re listening to gain appreciation. One album may be perfect for active listening (see January 1’s pick), while another album may need to be background music for focused work, or the soundtrack to your next workout.

Plus, you’ll be on this journey along with us and anyone else that chooses to participate. There’s no barrier to entry here beyond access to the music itself. It’s a way for you to connect with friends and family about the magic of music, day after day.

Nearly every week includes an album we’ve covered on TuneDig, so it’s easy to carry this practice over into your podcast listening time, too.

Check out tunedig.com/calendar to see the whole year’s worth of albums. Every one provides Spotify and Apple Music links, along with relevant TuneDig episodes. You can subscribe with Google CalendarApple Calendar, or any app that lets you subscribe to the ICS link.

We’ll even send you daily reminders by email—whatever makes it easy for you to try this out.

What’s TuneDig?

TuneDig is an in-depth and informed conversation between two lifelong friends about the power of music — one album at a time.

In each episode, we go down the rabbit hole to spend a while in the strange world we discover. We take an honest look at creativity in all its complexity—from writing and production to history and cultural impact.

We promise you’ll learn something new every time, no matter how much you already love the album we explore.

We’re Cliff (right) and Kyle (left). We’re two dudes born and raised in ATL with day jobs in tech and sustainability, respectively.

We met in middle school, and in one way or another, music’s been the thing that’s kept us close for the two decades since — whether it’s sharing and talking about new music (like this podcast, except in our texts or over beers), going to shows, or working with our favorite record stores to help them survive and thrive.

We started TuneDig as a little art project that connects us more deeply ourselves and to the world through the infinite gift of music. We hope you’ll join us for the conversations, let us know what you think, and share discoveries of your own.
